FAQs

  • When do we need to book you?
Popular dates — especially Saturdays — often book 12–18 months in advance, so I recommend enquiring as soon as you’ve secured your date and venue. Legally, in Australia, you must lodge your Notice of Intended Marriage (NOIM) at least one month before your wedding date, and it cannot be lodged more than 18 months prior to the ceremony. I’ll guide you through the timing to ensure everything is completed correctly and within the required timeframe.

    What documents do we need?
You’ll need photo ID (passport or driver’s licence), your birth certificate or passport, and if previously married, a divorce certificate or death certificate. I’ll confirm exactly what applies to your situation before lodging any paperwork.

Do we have to meet in person to complete the NOIM?
Your NOIM must be completed and witnessed correctly. This can be done in person or via approved arrangements depending on your circumstances — I’ll walk you through the process to make it simple.

Can we get married anywhere in Australia?
Yes — you can legally marry almost anywhere in Australia, provided the location is safe and allows the required legal wording to be clearly heard by everyone present.

What legal wording has to be included in our ceremony?
Australian marriage law requires two specific pieces of wording in every legal ceremony: the Monitum (which I must say) and the legal vows (which you must each repeat). I’ll seamlessly include both within your personalised ceremony so it feels natural and relaxed.

Can a friend or family member marry us?
In Australia, only an authorised celebrant can legally solemnise your marriage. However, I’m always happy to include friends or family in readings or special moments during the ceremony.

What if we want to get married sooner than one month?
There are limited circumstances where a shortening of time may be approved (for example, medical reasons or overseas deployment). These applications must meet strict legal criteria and require supporting documentation.

Can we write our own vows?
Absolutely — and I’ll provide guidance to help you craft vows that feel meaningful and authentic. Just remember, one short legal sentence must also be included as part of the formal requirements.

    Are you registered and insured?
Yes — I’m a Commonwealth-registered authorised celebrant and hold professional indemnity and public liability insurance.

  • What does an MC actually do?
A Master of Ceremonies hosts your reception — making announcements, managing the timeline and coordinating formalities so everything flows smoothly.

Why should we hire a professional MC instead of a friend?
It takes the pressure off your loved ones and ensures someone experienced is keeping the night on track behind the scenes.

Can you be both our celebrant and MC?
Yes — and it creates a seamless experience from ceremony to reception.

  • Do you replace a wedding planner?
If you book Full Wedding Planning — yes, I support you throughout the planning process. If you book Coordination, you plan it and I run it on the day.

What’s the difference between planning consultation and coordination?
A consultation gives you expert advice and clarity. Coordination means I step in to manage logistics and vendors on the day.

How involved are you in Full Wedding Planning?
Very. From vendor guidance to timelines and logistics, I support you from engagement through to the wedding day.

How many weddings do you take on for Full Planning?
I limit full planning bookings each year to ensure every couple receives focused, personalised support.

  • How do we secure our date?
A signed agreement and booking fee secures your date in my calendar.

    What are your payment terms?
A booking fee is required to secure your date in my calendar. The remaining balance is due 7 days prior to your event, as outlined in your agreement.

What happens if we need to reschedule?
If I’m available on your new date, I’ll transfer your booking. Full details are outlined in your agreement.

    Are you insured?
Yes — I hold the required professional insurance for celebrancy and event services.
